Foreign nationals travelling to Mongolia are advised to check the visa requirements in advance. The visa category depends on the purpose and length of your stay.
Main visa categories
- Tourist visa (J) — visits of up to 30 days
- Official visas (A, E) — diplomatic and official travel
- Private visit visa (T) — visiting family or friends
- Work visa (HG) — employment in Mongolia
- Student visa (S) — study purposes
Documents required
- A passport valid for at least six more months
- A completed visa application form
- One 3.5 × 4.5 cm photograph
- Flight booking and travel itinerary
- Hotel reservation or letter of invitation
- Proof of payment of the visa fee

How long does a visa application take?
Standard processing takes five to seven working days. An expedited service is available in two to three working days.
How long must my passport be valid?
Your passport must be valid for at least six months from the date of entry into Mongolia.
